Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions FAQ
What are the FrontPage Server Extensions?
FrontPage is a popular website editing application from Microsoft. The Server Extensions provide added functionality to FrontPage. When installed, they allow you to easily add common website functions such as gathering data from a form, hit counters, and searches. While these features can be added by server scripts (using languages such as Perl, ASP, or PHP), Microsoft FrontPage's point-and-click interface makes it much easier for the novice website designer.
What version of the Server Extensions are you using?
We are using the 2002 Server Extensions on all hosting packages.
Are the Server Extensions you're using compatible with my version of FrontPage?
Yes, the Server Extensions we are using are compatible with all versions of FrontPage (except very old versions written for Apple Macintosh computers).
Should I opt for the Server Extensions if I'm not using Microsoft FrontPage?
No. If you don't use FrontPage to build your website the Server Extensions will not give you any added functionality or benefits.
If I don't specify for the Server Extensions to be installed when I order, can they be installed later?
Yes, they can be installed at any time.
Can the server extensions be removed from my account if I no longer need them?
Yes, they can be removed at any time. Of course, if you are using any FrontPage-specific components (like a FrontPage hit counter) it will cease to function after the server extensions are removed.
