Secure Socket Layer
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is the standard way of transferring data securely over the Internet. It encrypts data, so that sensitive information cannot be intercepted by a third party. It is most often used to allow e-commerce transactions to be placed securely, where data like credit card information needs to be protected. For SSL to work properly, your website is required to have a digital certificate, issued by an authorized SSL certificate provider. For small business, we recommend Thawte Certification.

We also offer secure transaction capability without the need for your own SSL certificate via our purchase-secure.net order form service. See our add-ons page for details.

Note: You can use SSL without an SSL certificate; however, visitors will receive a warning message that there is not a "trusted" certificate for the website.
