Mailman Mailing Lists
A mailing list allows a discussion by e-mail between a group of people; the e-mail addresses of the people in the group make up the list. Mailman is a program which automates the management of mailing lists.

If you have experience with mailing lists, you may be familiar with a program called Majordomo. Mailman is superior to Majordomo in every way. Although Mailman accepts e-mail commands like Majordomo, one of Mailman's greatest features is its easy-to-use Web based interface. The interface is even customizable to fit the look and feel of your website.

Key features of Mailman include:

  • Web based list administration for nearly all tasks, including list configuration, moderation (post approvals), management of user accounts
  • Web based subscribing and unsubscribing, and user configuration management; users can temporarily disable their accounts, select digest modes, hide their email addresses from other members, etc.
  • A customizable home page for each mailing list
  • Per-list privacy features, such as closed-subscriptions, private archives, private membership rosters, etc.
  • Configurable (per-list and per-user) delivery mode, including regular (immediate) delivery, MIME digest, and plain (RFC 934) digests
  • Integrated bounce detection
  • Integrated spam filters
  • Automatic Web-based archiving
  • Integrated auto-replies
  • Majordomo-style email based commands
  • Multiple list owners and moderators are possible

Note: Mailman mailing lists are limited to 25 per account. If you require more, please contact Intelligent Hosting support to discuss your needs.

If your existing website incorporates a mailing list or you are considering adding one, we think you'll be pleased with the powerful features and ease of use that Mailman offers you and your list subscribers.
